Umberto Pernice, BSc, MBA

Umberto Pernice is a Senior Project Manager and Advisor on EU Policies and EU funding programs and instruments for Research and Technology Development  (RTD) projects as well as Technology Transfer activities. He joined MRC McLean Hazel at the beginning of 2011 after having contributed to the conception, EC awarding and implementation of the FP7 CATCH project from 2008. Umberto was involved in managing and coordinating the FP7 CATCH project. He is currently involved in developing new RTD proposals and business ideas in the area of Smart Cities and Complete Mobility.

Italian, born in Sicily, Umberto has more than 10 years of international working experience both with academic institutions (Universities, National Research Centers) and companies (Oracle Corporation, McKinsey & Company, Engineering SpA, Soluta.net) in Europe and Africa (Research Surveys Ltd).

His working knowledge embraces a wide range of EU programs (FP7, Competitive and Innovation Program [CIP],  ENPI, Grants and Tenders from different Directorate-General at the EC, including Europe-Aid) and research areas (Sustainable Mobility and Transport, ICT and Clean Technologies, Environment, Environmental Technologies). He holds a degree in Economics and Business studies (1996), a Master in Business Administration (1998) and several courses in Project Management and International Cooperation for Development.

Considerable working stays in different countries, apart from Italy (e.g. Ireland, UK, South Africa and Belgium) contributed to develop strong intercultural and interpersonal skills. He speaks fluent English and French and has a solid practice of e-working and business travelling.
