Citymanager
Citymanager exploits new technology, new income streams to provide ‘what the customer wants’ – applying retail principles to city management
Citymanager principles were developed from a survey of stakeholders in global megacities that established that good mobility is rated as one of the key factors in successful cities. There is a strong positive relationship between mobility and measures of economic competitiveness such as GDP per head.
We propose a unified city management system that would continually adapt to meet the developing demands and expectations of its users; be capable of meeting personal requirements through offering the best travel and lifestyle options; one that would recognise that the infrastructure which enables choice is also capable of managing user choice to achieve real-time and competing policy objectives. It moves away from the traditional “carrot and stick” approach to one based on valued services and incentivised choice. It removes the silos of transport modes and the constant debate about which mode is better. Instead it is based on 'one system' - the best package of links and provision for any given need.
For example, people are increasingly using mobile phones for many different purposes, including getting information about lifestyle options, paying for travel tickets and purchasing small items. It is possible to harness this trend and use it to help to achieve city or community objectives - if the objective is to increase public transport use, providing lifestyle incentives built around mobile phone use can make huge gains. In one trial, providing incentives to buy annual public transport tickets increased sales by 57%.
We have unrivalled experience in putting together packages of user centred mobility options as pilot studies or exemplars for new developments, communities, cities and regions.
Some of these packages take the form of Travel Centres or Lifestyle Centres - where people can access the features of Citymanager in a single location.
Citymanager products will be appearing here soon!
