Fiona Blackley wins Pecha Kucha presentation prize at the Civitas Forum in Funchal, Madeira

19/10/2011

From Monday 17th to Wednesday 19th October 2011, Fiona Blackley attended the Annual Civitas Forum, held this year in Funchal, Madeira. As well as a valuable opportunity to participate in a network of European cities with similar interests in sustainable transport, the technical and roundtable workshop sessions offered delegates the chance to examine in detail topical issues such as Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans and the role of social media in citizen engagement strategies.

NB - please excuse the hat - it was compulsory!

During the Forum, two Pecha Kucha sessions were organised where any delegate could request a slot to deliver a 20-slide presentation on a topic of their choice with only 20 seconds per slide and only pictures permitted (no words, graphs etc were allowed). Fiona gave a presentation entitled "Eat Your Peas: Incentives and Feedback in Smart Mobility" which was well-received by the audience who attended the session early on Wednesday morning. In fact, the judge of the Pecha Kucha competition - Pascal van den Noort -  decided that Fiona's presentation was the most entertaining for the audience and the most compliant with the Pecha Kucha rules. He therefore awarded her the winning prize of a bottle of Madeira wine at the Closing Plenary session on Wednesday afternoon.
