MRC McLean Hazel has acted as traffic and transport advisors on a wide range of private sector development projects. In doing so we have carried out a variety of tasks comprising strategic development planning, street design, internal traffic planning, advice on innovative transport solutions, as well as high-level and detailed Transport Assessments.
Examples
Blairs College, Aberdeenshire
MRC McLean Hazel was commissioned by the Muir Group to carry out the strategic and detailed traffic assessment and to provide transportation advice for the redevelopment of the Blairs College site in Aberdeenshire. To accommodate the development, a number of sustainable transport measures were proposed to link the site with the surrounding local communities. This project required on-going liaison with the two local councils of Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City, as well as Transport Scotland and their representatives.
Quartermile
Quartermile is a large mixed-use development in Edinburgh city centre on the 19-acre site of the former Royal Infirmary. MRC McLean Hazel is part of a multi-disciplinary team led by Gladedale involved in redeveloping this site which will contain a wide range of housing, office development, hotel, shops, cafes and restaurants. Having completed the Transport Assessment for the site, MRCMH has also provided supplementary advice on issues including car parking and access for service vehicles. MRCMH were also subsequently commissioned to prepare a Green Travel Plan for the site. See also: Quartermile Green Travel Plan

Easter Bush
MRC McLean Hazel was first appointed to carry out a Transport Assessment for the proposed University of Edinburgh development at Easter Bush for the relocated Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies. This development received planning approval in 2007 and MRCMH has since provided transport input to the progression of a ‘Development Framework’ for the University of Edinburgh. This document sets out the future phases of proposed development planned for the whole area of the Easter Bush estate over a 20-year time horizon. Finally, MRC McLean Hazel has been commissioned by Heery to carry out a Transport Assessment for the next phase of development, the Easter Bush Research Centre (EBRC).
