RENAISSANCE

RENAISSANCE is a CIVITAS+ project which has recently won support from the EC.

The CIVITAS Initiative helps cities to achieve a more sustainable, clean and energy efficient urban transport system by implementing and evaluating an ambitious, integrated set of technology and policy based measures.

RENAISSANCE is a four year 15 million euro project which starts in June 2008.

The Project aims at “testing Innovative Strategies for Clean Urban Transport for historic European Cities”. The Project will design and demonstrate large scale measures supporting urban quality, mobility, accessibility and heritage of historic cities. These cities face similar problems of seasonal demand, operating as living working communities which need economic stability and improved quality of life, while also catering for visitors and preserving European heritage

The Project consists of 30 partners from throughout Europe, and is focused on four demonstration cities:

  • Bath – UK
  • Perugia – Italy
  • Szczecinek – Poland
  • Gorna Orjahovitsa – Bulgaria
  • Skopje – Macedionia
