Quartermile Green Travel Plan

Quartermile is a large mixed-use development in Edinburgh city centre on the 19-acre site of the former Royal Infirmary. MRC McLean Hazel is part of a multi-disciplinary team led by Gladedale, involved in redeveloping this site which will contain a wide range of housing, office development, hotel, shops, cafes and restaurants. Having completed the Transport Assessment for the site, MRCMH was commissioned to prepare a Green Travel Plan as required by the development’s Section 75 planning condition.

The development involves opening up a large urban block to a variety of movements, with an emphasis on permeability for pedestrians and cyclists. The Green Travel Plan set out a range of sustainable initiatives for the site including a community car club, a car sharing scheme, new and renovated cycle and pedestrian facilities as well as provision for flexible working practices and virtual services to reduce the need to travel.
